An American Ascent: The Feature Documentary I helped Andy Adkins and George Potter produce just won both Best Documentary Film and Best Director at The San Diego Black Film Festival! I just want to give a shout out to the team we documented: Expedition Denali. The first African American Team to take on North America's highest Peak -- Denali (aka Mount McKinley).
This was not an easy expedition for anyone involved. We spent weeks in trying conditions carrying tons of equipment, food and gear on our backs and sleds. Yet it remains one of my favorite memories. Why? The answer is the quality of people I was working with. Not just the other members of the film crew, and NOLS but also the Expedition Denali Team. I love each and every one of these characters and I'd hop on a rope with them anywhere any time.
